About Dr. Freihart
A Modern, Science-Driven Approach to Well-Being
I believe therapy should be a powerful force for change in your life—a process that is not only warm and supportive but also highly effective. My work is grounded in a simple but critical idea: that the most profound healing happens at the intersection of compassionate human connection and rigorous psychological science. I'm Dr. Bridget Freihart, a licensed clinical psychologist, and I partner with motivated adults, teens, and couples who are ready to move from feeling stuck and overwhelmed to feeling empowered and in control of their lives.
A Scientist in the Therapy Room
Throughout my career, I have held two deeply connected roles: scientist and clinician. My work as a scientist has grounded me in an understanding of what works in therapy. My work as a clinician allows me to translate that cutting-edge knowledge into practical, personalized strategies for you. You can feel confident that the care you receive is built on a foundation of the most current and effective methods available.
This commitment to science has guided my entire educational trajectory. My journey began with an undergraduate degree in Applied Psychology at New York University and master's training at UC Berkeley, followed by a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of Texas at Austin and a clinical fellowship at Harvard Medical School. I committed to constantly deepening my understanding of the science of human behavior and change.
How This Helps You
I use a flexible toolkit of powerful, evidence-based therapies tailored to your specific goals. My role in our work together will be to help you build a robust set of skills for lasting well-being. My clinical specialties include helping clients overcome challenges with anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder, trauma, and depression. I also have specialized research and clinical expertise in helping individuals and couples navigate concerns related to sexual health and intimacy, an area where my work has been published in leading scientific journals.
Outside the Office
While my professional life is dedicated to science and my clients, I believe the best therapy happens between two real people. It’s important you know that I'm also a person who feels passionately about the art of assembling the perfect cheese plate and who will passionately argue that the Rolling Stones are the greatest rock and roll band of all time. I bring my whole, authentic self to my work, and I invite you to do the same in our work together.
